How it works:

.

.

1. Become a "Kindness Coiner"

If you want to start your own kindness footprint you will need to first create a free account to become a "Kindness Coiner." Joining is as simple as entering your email address and creating a password. Simply click the "Create an Account" tab or button on the "Home" page to get to the "Become a Kindness Coiner" page. Then enter your e-mail address and create a password. Click the "Create Account" button. You are now a "Kindness Coiner"! Log in anytime to purchase coins, add to your profile, view your coins in action, or follow the expanding kindness footprint your kind acts initiate across Town, across the Country or around the World! *Your information will only be used by Kindness CoinsTM to track your coins, maintain your "Kindness Footprint" and communications from us as you request relating to your coins. See privacy policy and terms of use for more information.

2. Comments

When someone is "Coined" they have been given a Kindness Coin. Kindness Coins can be given for an unlimited number of reasons involving kindness. When someone receives a Kindness Coin they should go to KindnessCoin.com and tell how or why they received their coin. The coin number is entered from the "So You Just Got Coined" page. In the process of submitting a comment they are requested to enter an email address and password which when completed will tally a Kindness Footprint for the Coin and Coiners connected to that coin.

In addition to commenting on how or why you received a Kindness Coin you can as a "Coiner" go to your "My Coins" page from your personal home page and enter a comment on how you gave your coin away. This comment will count as a Personal Footprint if the person you gave the coin to did not yet comment and count as a Connected Footprint if the receiving comment has already been entered.

3. Passing along a coin

Now that you have an account and are a "Kindness Coiner" with your coins registered the fun begins. Start giving your coins away with Good Deeds or just pass them along with a Smile. The way kind acts are credited is by the person who receives a coin, thus "getting coined" enters the tracking information. Where possible, telling the person you coin they need to go to the website and complete a short process helps in understanding how it works. No matter how the kind act occurs the person receiving a coin always enters the tracking information.

• There are currently two Kindness Coins a "Good Deed" and a "Smile."
• Random acts of kindness are perfect for the Good Deed coin. Simply leave a coin with the random act of kindness.
• How many times have you heard upon completion of a Good Deed, "How can I ever repay you"? You can now say, "Well … you can’t do anything for me but here is a Kindness Coin I would appreciate it if you did something for someone else and passed this coin along."
• The smile coin can be used for a complement. You could say, "You did a very nice job I want others to hear about this." Please, take this coin and complete the tracking information on the website and then pass it along."
• A smile is sufficient reason to give a coin. Ask they pass it along.
• Maybe, you see someone do something kind, generous, or compassionate that makes you want to say, "That was really nice of you." Give them a coin and let them know they just got "Coined." Ask them to pass it along to someone they think is doing something kind, generous, or compassionate.
• Get more ideas from the Coin-ness Counts pages.

The most important element in this project is to keep the coins and kindness moving. Acts of Kindness don’t have to be gigantic or earth shattering. We don’t know what small thing will touch someone in the right way and what kindness cascade will result. A simple smile could just be that spark. (Smiling makes you feel good too.) No kind act is too small! For "Coiny" ideas on how to pass your coins along please view the "Acts of Coin-ness" located in the "Coiny Additions" area below.

4. Track your Kindness Footprint as it travels and grows
Back To Top

As a Kindness Coiner your acts of coin-ness are tracked as comments are entered into your account database. When someone you gave a coin to completes the requested information and creates an account, an act of kindness is credited to you. These Acts of Coin-ness create your "Personal Kindness Footprint." As the coin travels, your "Connected Kindness Footprint" grows because others join in the fun. These new Coiners are connected to you and will always be because you reached out to them. They are now active Kindness Coiners and spreading kindness because of you! Add more coins along with kindness and your connected footprint expands exponentially! When you are logged into your account there are different ways to watch your kindness footprint grow. You can view all the Coins and Coiners in action from the "Coin-ness Counts" button or track your own coins from "My Recent Activity," "My Coins," and the "My Footprint" buttons. Watch your footprint as it travels and grows!

So, You Just Got Coined

If you just got coined it means you received a coin along with an act of kindness. Possibly you know the person or maybe it was a random act of kindness. Either way, in order for the person who gave you the coin and the countless other Kindness Coiners connected to your coin to receive credit, you need to enter the coin number, your zip code and create an account (just an email address and password). There are two places to access entering a coin number. There is a space provided on the "So, You Just Got Coined" page and a link on the "Home" page. Both are marked "Enter a Coin Number." By telling how or why you received your coin you will give credit to the person that gave you the coin and inspire others to spread kindness also. Kindness stories are the basis of this project. By adding to the history of this coin and creating an account you are becoming a "Kindness Coiner." Simply pass your coin along with a Good Deed or a Smile and you have started your own Personal Kindness Footprint.
